Caracterización clínico-epidemiológica de las lesiones por arma de fuego o arma blanca hospital central universitario “Antonio María Pineda”

The present study aims to determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of gunshot injuries or stab enteringthe University Central Hospital "Antonio Maria Pineda", Barquisimeto, Lara state. A study was conducted descriptive,transversal. The population consisted of 269 injured patients admitted to the emergency room of Hospital in the periodSeptember-October 2012. The data were collected in a structured form in parts III, among the findings, we found a higherpercentage of injuries among males (94.1%) in the age group of 20 and 35 years (60.2%), in workers (53.2%) andin IV (69.1%). Sunday was the day with the highest number of injuries (23.4%), the time of day with the highestoccurrence was the night (44.6%). The 97.4% occurred in Lara state of which 64.5% were in the municipality Iribarren,being the Juan de Villegas parish which has the highest percentage of injuries (25.4%). The most common place ofoccurrence was in the street (72.9%) ̧ moreover, theft (48.7%) was the main reason for aggression, predominantly used afirearm (85.5%) mostly short (60.9%) injuries were complicated in 83.6% of cases, compromising the neurovascularsystem with 73.8% in the degree of contamination was demonstrated 39.4% of contaminated and clean-contaminated, themost affected anatomical region corresponded to multiple body regions (20.4%). This research provides data for thedevelopment of protocols for the immediate care of the gunshot or stabbed patient. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar las características clínico-epidemiológicas de las lesiones por armas defuego o blanca en el Hospital Central Universitario “Antonio María Pineda”, Barquisimeto estado Lara. El estudio de tipodescriptivo, transversal. La población constituida por 269 pacientes lesionados que ingresaron al servicio de Emergenciadel Hospital en el periodo Septiembre – Octubre 2012. Los datos se recolectaron en una ficha estructurada en III partes. Seencontró un mayor porcentaje de lesionados en el sexo masculino (94.1%), en el grupo de edad de 20 y 35 años (60,2%),en los obreros (53,2%) y en el estrato IV (69,1%). El domingo tuvo mayor porcentaje de lesionados (23.4%), el momentodel día con mayor ocurrencia fue la noche (44.6%). El 97.4% de los lesionados ocurrió en el estado Lara de los cuales64.5% fueron en el municipio Iribarren; siendo la parroquia Juan de Villegas la de mayor porcentajes de lesionados(25.4%). El lugar de ocurrencia más común fue la calle (72.9%) ̧ por otra parte; el robo (48.7%) fue el principal motivo deagresión, predominó el uso de arma de fuego (85.5%) en su mayoría cortas (60.9%), las lesiones fueron complicadas en83.6% de los casos, comprometiendo el sistema vasculonervioso con 73.8%, en cuanto al grado de contaminación 39.4%fueron contaminadas y limpias contaminadas, la región anatómica más afectada correspondió a múltiples regiones delcuerpo (20.4%). Esta investigación aportará datos para la elaboración de protocolos para la atención inmediata delpaciente lesionado por arma de fuego o arma blanca
